Today I am celebrating my blog's one year anniversary. Happy Anniversary Blog!!! I can't believe it has already been one year! It's been so much fun, and I have made a lot of new friends. To celibrate I am following my friend Bethany's lead and posting my own list of 100 Things About Me. I enjoy reading everyone else's list, so I thought it would be fun to make my own. Here it goes...
- I am very happily married.
- My husband and I were best friends in high school.
- We were living together as roommates (seperate rooms people lol) when he proposed. We had never even been on a date.
- We have been together for almost nine years now, and I know in my heart we will last forever.
- I don't have any children, well human ones anyways.
- I'm not sure that I want to have any.
- I'm turning 30 in January. I think my biological clock might be ticking, but I can't really hear it.
- My husband is a pilot. We moved to Florida so that he could go to flight school.
- I think pilots are sexy!!
- I have 18 piercings and one large tattoo on my lower back that I designed myself.
- I have a pretty high tolerance for pain.
- My husband doesn't have a single piercing or tattoo.
- He jokes and says that I'm a golf course. (Get it? 18 holes! Hahaha)
- My husband is sooo funny. (it's so hard to convey sarcasm through typing)
- My hair is down to my waist. It was past my waist, but I had my husband chop off four inches.
- I cut my hair short one time, and I cried for two days.
- I am very fair skinned, and I won't leave the house without sunscreen.
- I am so self concious about my fair skin that I will never wear shorts or short skirts. I don't want to blind people!
- My eyes are hazel (green and brown), but they always look brown in pictures.
- I am the worst liar in the world. Don't ever ask me a question unless you want the honest truth. Also it's probably not a good idea to make me your cover story. I'm the worst at lying when it is spontaneous and under pressure.
- I am a very open minded person. People come to me with their problems quite often, because they know that I will never judge them. It's a good thing I'm a good secret keeper too, because I have some stooooooooories. Whew!
- I learned to crochet when I was about five years old.
- I taught myself to knit as a New Year's Resolution fulfillment, and I have been hooked since day one.
- The first thing I ever knit was a sweater for my nephew Devin.
- The sleeves were way too long, but I didn't care. We just rolled them up and he wore it anyways.
- After about 24 years of either knitting or crocheting, I have only made myself two things. This is going to change.
- My friend Janette taught me how to spin on a spindle a couple of months ago. She also showed me how to spin on a spinning wheel. I definitely prefer the spinning wheel to the spindle.
- I don't have a spinning wheel, but I plan to get one when money isn't quite so tight.
- I also enjoy beading, painting, and various other hobbies. I don't think there is a such thing as too many hobbies. Less is more? Bah!
- I teach knitting and crocheting at the craft store where I work. I just love enabling new craft addictions!
- I have a large family that includes three sisters (one I never met) and two brothers.
- Both of my brothers are in the military.
- One brother did two tours in Iraq and was wounded. The other one is still serving there. He has only seen his new son once when he went on leave.
- I have six nephews, two nieces, and another on the way.
- I haven't seen my family in almost a year, and I miss them terribly. I can't wait until I am able to go home for a visit.
- I love getting scared! Weird I know but maybe it's the adrenaline rush. I absolutely love horror movies and books, and I enjoy watching the "true" ghost story TV shows/documentaries. I especially love those shows where they lock people up in a haunted house with video cameras. I would love to be on one!
- My favorite movie is Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas which is based on a book written by Hunter S. Thompson.
- I hate cooking meals, but I love to bake pies, cakes, breads, etc.
- My husband says I make the best apple pie in the whole world. I hoping he isn't just biased :)
- I have cooked one meal since we moved into this apartment in Feb.
- My husband does all the cooking.
- I'm a lucky girl haha!
- The best job I ever had was being a bartender. I made a lot of money and my husband and I blew it traveling and having a great time. Maybe I should have saved it, but I had way too much fun spending it!
- I have been to over 30 Phish shows (stopped counting at thirty) and have followed them all the way up to the tippy top of Maine, twice.
- I'm an absolute sucker for animals.
- I once stopped traffic on a major highway to save a parakeet on the side of the road.
- I used to be the VP of a no-kill cat shelter back in VA, and I have had 9 foster kittens in my home at once.
- My sweety Zoe was found abandoned in a back yard, and I bottle fed her. I had to get up every two hours to feed her, and I was in the middle of exams. I think taking care of her kept my mind off the stress I was under, and I aced all of my exams. She was my little study buddy.
- Believe it or not I only have two cats right now.
- I only have two cats because my apartments only allow two pets.
- I don't eat red meat.
- I was a vegetarian most of my life, but now I will eat some fish and chicken.
- Sometimes I feel really guilty for eating them.
- I can't even squash a bug, but I will eat a chicken. What's that all about?? lol
- I loooooooove spicey food.
- Korean food is my absolute favorite! Sushi is a very close second.
- I used to be a weekly regular at a small Korean restaurant in VA., and the owner and I would sing Kareoke together. I will most definitely be eating there when I go home to visit.
- My favorite restaurant here in Florida has a huge sushi buffet, and I always eat way to much when I go there.
- I never had a sweet tooth until I quit smoking. I think I traded one addiction for another.
- Chocolate seems to be my drug of choice at the moment.
- I began talking when I was six months old.
- By the time I was a year old I was speaking in full sentences.
- My friends lovingly (yeah right haha) tell me that explains a lot. I don't know what they are talking about!
- My earliest memory in life is my second birthday party. I was given a slinky that I got terribly tangled and one of my aunts was helping me fix it.
- I can remember my second birthday, my 9th grade boyfriend's phone number, all the lines to Groundhog Day, several poems I had to memorize in high school, etc but I can't remember where I put my keys or if I locked the door when I left the house!
- I have serious scatter brain moments.
- I have never taken a sip of beer in my entire life. I always thought it stunk too bad to try it.
- This is the first time I have ever lived outside of VA, and I am having a hard time adjusting.
- I have never traveled outside of the US, but I was really darn close to Canada once!
- I am still driving the same car I bought when I graduated in 1993. It sure looked good back then! Now it is quite beat up after two wrecks, and it has over 200,000 miles on it. At least it gets me where I am going.
- I have a hard time getting rid of things, but I am trying to work on that. I have become inspired by the show Clean Sweep. I wish they would come to my house!
- I am ashamed to admit this, but I have over 100 tubes of lipsticks and that's not counting the ones that are MIA.
- The only makeup I wear is lipstick.
- I love lipstick haha!
- I have a ton of yarn, and I can't seem to make myself stop buying it!
- When we moved in to our new apartment it took several trips to get my stash in the house. My Sister-in-Law was just a little surprised! haha!
- I was diagnosed with OCD a couple of years ago, but I keep it under control enough to remain a functioning human being without meds.
- My main fear is germs. It drives my husband batty sometimes, but he is a good sport and carries the darn hand sanitizer!
- My biggest pet peeve in the world is when people lick their fingers before turning a page or counting money. Ewwwww!
- I never ever use public restrooms unless I don't think I can make it home. Yuck!
- I am a perfectionist. I think this probably drives my husband crazier than the OCD.
- I have somewhat of a low self-esteem and I am super hard on myself. Couple this with being a perfectionist and you can see why it drives my husband nuts.
- I am super indecisive. Well, that is what Rob always says. I would like to think that I just like making reaaaaaaaaally informed decisions!
- I have really good work ethics. I can count on one hand the times I have been late or called in sick for at least five years maybe more. I learned this from my mother who works harder than anyone I know.
- I have a very short fuse. My sister Misti bought me a keychain that says, "Caution I go from 0 to B#$%! in 3.5 seconds." I just love her.
- I am a complete goofball. It isn't uncommon for me to break out in a song or dance in the middle of the grocery store or do something equally embarrassing (not for me I love making an A out of myself ) in public. God forbid you get me and Misti together. You are bound for trouble. My husband has become oblivious to my antics after 9 years. Haha!
- I love all types of music. I have a large variety of CD's that range from Bach to Eminem. You should have seen the look on the cashiers face when I set them both down on the counter. She got a little chuckle out of it.
- I love to sing. I am a 1st Soprano, but I can sing Alto as well. I have a pretty decent range.
- I was in a Chamber Madrigal Choir in High School. We did a great deal of traveling and won many of awards. We even sang on PBS a few times during the Christmas Holidays.
- I really miss performing. Now I just sing in the car and the shower!
- I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano and the violin, and I will before I die.
- I also want to learn how to speak French.
- I am currently
learningrelearning Spanish, and I practice it with a couple of girls at work that speak it fluently. - I should already be fluent since I took at least six years of it in school. but I have forgotten most of it after not speaking it in over three years.
- I try to learn something new every year as a part of my New Year's Resolution. It sure is a lot easier to keep than most.
- I have a 4.0 GPA in college but no degree yet :(
- I am working to put my husband through flight school and when he is hired by an airline I will be able to go back. I can't wait!
- I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up.
- Lottery winner ranks high on my list of what I want to be when I grow up!
- List maker probably ranks last!
I would also like to celebrate by kicking off a new idea for my blog. I am planning on having a show and tell day each week. On "Show N' Tell Day" I will feature a crafts that different people have made, and the crafter can write the entry if they want. I think it will be fun to see all the different things people make, and it will give people that don't have their own blog or website the opportunity to strut their stuff. Does this sound like fun to you? If any of you out there would like to be included in "Show N' Tell Day" use the "Contact Me" link on the sidebar and let me know.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. I plan on getting some serious cleaning and knitting done. In a perfect world I would have a completed Cherry scarf by Monday. We'll see what happens. See you all on Monday!
